I’m Valerie. I’m here to help.
I’ve always been a bit of a dreamer. In junior high, my math teacher once called me “spacey”. (I don’t think it’s because of my last name.)
But behind those far away eyes, I was imagining things that didn’t yet exist. Having visions of art and nature, and the future. I’ve always been able to see a few steps ahead.
I’ve resided on the cusp of new frontiers for as long as I’ve been a professional. I watched print “die”, founded one of the first digital magazines, watched marketing evolve from banner ads to SEO to social media campaigns.
I’ve seen trends come and go, and noticed what remained constant. Whatever the form, format, or platform… the message is always what matters.
My work is infused with this sensibility. I craft campaigns and messaging and visuals that resonate deeply with the dreams of others — the ones that show them their best future selves — so the recipient feels seen in ways they didn’t expect.
But I’m also analytical. I measure and test. I do the research that informs the strategy. I can see it from 20,000 feet, or through a microscope.
I believe this combination — dreamer and strategist — is where the magic happens.
What is Amethyst Mountain?
Amethyst Mountain is a digital marketing consultancy, yes, but it’s also a philosophy — a way of looking at the work as a means of helping.
Helping connect dreamers — the consumer with the producer, the one in need with the one who wants to help. Both are in pursuit of dreams.
New clients often come to the Mountain with a problem they can’t name. Maybe it’s just a feeling that something isn’t working, or that they are not getting the right results. I listen deeply, tuning my ear to what’s not being said.
Sales are down? I hear a mismatch between offer and audience.
Ad spend isn’t generating leads? I see a gap between strategy and intent.
Often it takes a little digging to discover what’s really hampering a client’s marketing. That means conversations, and audits of digital efforts — even a deep dive into sales and traffic trends.
Like a digital sherpa, I provide guidance. Not just handholding up the path — understanding that informs business decisions and strategy, so my clients fathom what needs attention and how to go about it.
And for brands who need it, I take action on that guidance — leading campaign management, creative direction, and more — with a high-touch, concierge approach that lets my clients feel truly supported all the way.
The name itself came from a dream I had at a pivotal point in my life. It was a dream that presented me with a choice and a vision. I could give up, or I could start over in alignment with my true values.
If I left an ill-fitting base camp and scaled this massive crystal mountain, I would find my purpose and my people.
In that dream, I not only found the promise of daring boldness, but the power of differentiation. It took standing out to set everything in motion.
This is the lesson I took from that dream: Don’t be afraid to be bold, to stand out. Don’t sublimate your truth to fit in.
This ethos guides how I live, work, create, the scale of my vision.
But boldness is not always loudness. Sometimes, it’s contrast. It’s being the quiet, true voice that screams by whispering, stands still in a stampede.
It makes you take notice. Makes you wonder. Ignites curiosity. Puts you in the right place, at the right time, so you can do the most good.
This may sound lofty, because it is. It’s a mountain, after all.
Now you know my dream. Tell me yours.
